Off-Grid at 10,000 Feet: Our Newest Idaho Springs Cabin

Some places exist to be convenient. This isn't one of them.
Our newest listing sits at nearly 10,000 feet above Idaho Springs, accessible only by a 4-mile off-road trail through the high country. There's no skipping that drive. AWD or 4WD is required, year-round, no exceptions. And honestly, that's part of why we love it. By the time you arrive, you've already left everything behind.
What the cabin actually is
Three bedrooms, all with king beds. Three and a half bathrooms. Sleeps six comfortably with room for a crib in the third bedroom, which makes it work for families, friend groups, or a few couples traveling together.
Inside, there are multiple living rooms and multiple fireplaces, so the group can split up or pile in. There's a fully stocked kitchen for real meals. A bar area for slower evenings. And a karaoke room, because at 10,000 feet with no neighbors in earshot, why not.
The deck is the centerpiece. It's enormous, fully open to the mountains, and faces the kind of view that makes you forget what your phone is for. Morning coffee, dinner outside, sunset with a drink in hand. It does the work for you.
The location
Idaho Springs is one of the best mountain town hubs in Colorado. Real mining history, a walkable Main Street, solid coffee and food, and serious outdoor access in every direction.
From the cabin you can reach:
St. Mary's Glacier for a high-alpine hike that's accessible year-round
Indian Hot Springs in under 20 minutes for a historic soak
Clear Creek Canyon for world-class whitewater rafting and rock climbing
Georgetown and Guanella Pass for alpine scenery and wildlife
Breckenridge about an hour west for skiing and a bigger mountain town day
Central City and Black Hawk 20 minutes out for casinos and history
Denver is close enough to fly into and drive up the same day.
Who this cabin is for
This is not a quick weekend pop-in. It's a place to settle. The kind of stay where you stock the kitchen, sit by a fire, and don't leave for two days. The off-grid power system means you'll be a little more mindful with electricity than at a regular rental. The altitude means take it easy the first day. The road in means leave the sedan at home.
For the right guest, every one of those things is the point.
